On June 19, 2020, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers, in collaboration with Kenya Police Service, made a significant seizure in Samburu East Sub-County.

A Toyota Prado, registration number KBY 022K, was impounded after it was suspected of carrying sandalwood, a highly valuable but endangered tree species.

According to reports, the driver of the vehicle managed to escape by locking the wheels, but the vehicle was later towed to Wamba police station for further investigation.

The suspect(s) will be charged in court once apprehended, as it is illegal to harvest or transport sandalwood in Kenya.
