On June 19, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated Nancy Janet Kabui Gathungu for the position of Auditor General, a move that comes after the office fell vacant in August 2019 following the retirement of Edward Ouko after an 8-year stint.
According to a statement from State House, Ms. Gathungu's name has been forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration.
Ms. Gathungu was one of the top three candidates presented to President Uhuru for nomination by the Recruitment Panel.
She will now face scrutiny from the National Assembly as her nomination is put to a vote.
