On Friday, a court session was skipped by Duncan Ndiema, the police officer accused of fatally shooting 13-year-old Yasin Moyo from the balcony of their family house in Kiamaiko.

Ndiema's lawyer, Danstan Omari, claimed that his client was unwell and exhibiting symptoms similar to those of COVID-19.

Omari also stated that Ndiema had presented himself to the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) on Thursday and undergone a mental examination.

Presiding Judge Ogembo considered the arguments from both parties and decided that Ndiema would take his plea on Tuesday next week, as there were no objections to defer the session.

Yasin Moyo was shot by a stray bullet in the stomach on April 28, 2020, while watching police patrolling the streets with his mother and siblings during the dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus.
