- An eCitizen account
- A working internet connection
- Cash on your MPESA account for the renewal fee (Ksh 650 for one year or Ksh 1450 for three years)
- Cash for transaction fees (approximately Ksh 30)
- Cyber charges (Ksh 150-300 depending on your location)
- A printer (if applying from home or office)
- Glue and scissors
Steps to Renew Your License ¶
- Log into your eCitizen account on your phone or browser.
- Find the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) tab and click on the 'get service' button.
- Choose the type of application you want to make (e.g., renewing your license for one or three years).
- Once you have chosen your preferred length of renewal, a confirmation page will appear. Read through the details and click on the 'apply now' button.
- You will be taken to the payment step, where you can choose MPESA as the payment method.
- Follow the instructions to complete the payment using MPESA.
- After successful payment, eCitizen will automatically reload and redirect you to a new page where you can download your invoice and the renewed driving license.
- Print the invoice and the renewed license, and cut out the license along the marked scissor dots.
- Glue the cut-out license on top of your old license, and you are good to go!

- Make sure you log out of your eCitizen account if you are using a public computer.
- Be cautious of technical hitches and delays during the transaction process.
- Visit an NTSA office or Huduma Centre near you if you have any issues with your eCitizen portal or driving license.
