On June 18, 2020, Family Bank handed over a ventilator worth Sh. 3 million, an ICU bed, and monitors to the newly constructed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Murang'a County.

The donation is part of the bank's efforts to improve critical healthcare provision in public hospitals, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Family Bank's CEO, Rebecca Mbithi, noted that the ventilator will enhance service delivery in the ICU, which has been operational for almost two months.

According to Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria, the ICU has already treated one patient, an orphan, who was treated free of charge and has since recovered.

The governor also announced plans to establish specialized care hospitals in the county to reduce the need for patients to travel to Nairobi-based medical facilities for treatment.

Family Bank's donation is a significant boost to the ICU, which has a capacity of 50 beds and already has 35 beds and 20 ventilators.
