On June 16, 2020, a bizarre incident occurred at Siringeti pub along the Ruiru by-pass, where Tana River County Director of Communication Steve Juma was served a bottle of water instead of beer.

Mr. Juma, a former investigative journalist with Nation Media Group, had joined his friends for drinks at the pub.

They ordered food and drinks, but when they were served, they noticed that one of the bottles was full of water.

‘We tried to engage the attendant and when matters got worse, we spoke to the manager, who still did not give us a satisfying answer. We then opted to inform the police,’ Juma told Nairobi News.

He alleged that the manager refused to accept responsibility for the beer bottle filled with water.

Mr. Juma warned members of the public to be vigilant when ordering beer in pubs, saying it is advisable to investigate and ascertain that they have been served with a genuine bottle of beer.

The matter was reported at Ruiru Police Station (under OB number 58/16/06/2020), and the police are investigating the incident.
