Published on June 19, 2020, a tragic incident unfolded in Atlanta, Georgia, where a 27-year-old police officer, Garrett Rolfe, shot and killed Rayshard Brooks, a black man, in a Wendy's drive-through.

Brooks was found sleeping in his car and was given an alcohol test, which proved positive. The officers attempted to arrest him for driving under the influence, but the situation escalated, and Brooks grabbed one of the officers' Tasers. In a split second, Rolfe shot Brooks twice in the back.

Garrett Rolfe, who was fired after the killing, is being held at Fulton County jail, according to its website. Fellow officer Devin Brosnan, who has agreed to become a witness for the state in the investigation, also surrendered on Thursday over assault charges but was released on bail.
