Published on June 19, 2020, MamaPrime, a Nairobi-based health fintech company, is on the verge of clinching a commercial partnership with global drugs manufacturer Sanofi.

The partnership, which could see MamaPrime's activities scale up beyond Kenya, comes after the company was selected from 268 startups from 34 countries that applied to Sanofi's AfricaTech contest.

Sanofi's local team will assess partnership opportunities with MamaPrime, one of five African startups that made it to the final podium, and provide business mentorship training at no cost.

According to Sanofi, MamaPrime's innovative 'nest' system enables expectant mothers to raise money for delivery fees, prenatal, and postnatal care, enhancing the well-being of the mother and their newborn baby.

"The objective of this initiative is to continue Sanofi's commitment in encouraging innovation in Africa to create a health ecosystem that serves the patient," said Sanofi.
