Former Harambee Stars coach Marshall Mulwa, a 75-year-old football legend, has been living in dire conditions in Kajiado's Kitengela township. His plight was highlighted by TUKO.co.ke on June 18, 2020.

According to reports, Mulwa has been forced to rely on well-wishers for survival, a stark contrast to his illustrious career as a football coach. During his stint at Harambee Stars, he led the team to three consecutive Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup titles between 1981 and 1983.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has come to Mulwa's rescue, pledging to support him through the Nairobi County Sports Board. The governor visited Mulwa's rented shanty house and delivered foodstuffs, promising to explore options to improve his life.

"Football plays an important role in our society by uniting our country and also by giving the youth an opportunity to earn a living," Sonko noted in a Facebook post. "We will talk to him and look into how we can assist him to improve his life," he added.
