On June 18, 2020, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha made a crucial announcement regarding the national exams for Form Four and Standard Eight candidates. Speaking at Nakuru Girls High School, he stated that the exams must be done between February and March to ensure a smooth transition.

According to Prof Magoha, if the exams were to take place in April, the transition would not be possible. He emphasized that the earliest the exams can take place is around February and March, not later than that.

Additionally, Prof Magoha highlighted the importance of training teachers on Covid-19 surveillance procedures before schools reopen in September. He noted that a single teacher can affect many people and that teachers will be taken through the Covid-19 pandemic response program to manage the situation effectively.
