Kenya Reports Highest Single-Day Covid-19 Death Toll

Kenya's Health ministry reported 10 Covid-19 deaths on Thursday, the highest single-day death toll in the country, bringing the total number of deaths to 117.

Seven of the fatalities had underlying medical conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, bone cancer, and HIV. The remaining three deaths were not specified.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman announced 213 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, bringing the national tally to 4,257. The new cases were distributed across various counties, with Nairobi recording the highest number at 136.

Dr. Aman also reported 106 new recoveries, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,459. Kenya has tested a total of 130,498 samples since the first case of the coronavirus was reported on March 13, with a record 6,024 samples tested in a single day.
