On June 18, 2020, Safaricom introduced the Mpesa for Business app, a mobile solution designed to cater to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kenya.
The app allows businesses to send money to customers, suppliers, and pay salaries directly, while also enabling Lipa na Mpesa merchants to monitor and transact multiple till numbers registered under the same business nominated number.
According to Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa, the M-Pesa for Business smartphone App is a solution that empowers over 170,000 businesses across the country to send money and make payments, providing them with simple and detailed reports from the convenience of their mobile phone.
The app features a Roll Up function, which enables branches to push funds directly to head office, and allows owners with multiple outlets to easily monitor cash flows from their cell phone.
Businesses can access the app once Safaricom processes their application through m-pesaforbusiness.co.ke.
As Safaricom continues to focus on the needs of SMEs, the Mpesa for Business App is a significant step towards providing them with suitable technologies to help them grow.
