On June 18, 2020, Dennis Itumbi, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, dropped a hint about the formation of a new political party, 'Jubilee Asili', through a social media post.

The post included a picture of the party's symbol, which still maintains the symbol of two people holding hands and Ruto's United Republican Party colours yellow and black, with President Uhuru's The National Alliance party colour red removed.

Itumbi's move comes after he severed his ties with the government and transformed himself into a harsh critic of President Uhuru and a staunch supporter of DP Ruto.

It's worth noting that the Jubilee party was formed in the run-up to the August 8, 2017 General Election following the dissolution of eleven affiliate political parties, including The National Alliance party (TNA), the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP), and others.
