On June 18, 2020, Safaricom introduced the Lipa Na M-PESA Business app, designed to enhance the experience of its over 170,000 merchants.
The app, named 'M-PESA for Business', allows business owners to access real-time statements, export statements, and track their business performance on the go.
With the app, business owners can also withdraw funds from Lipa Na M-PESA to their M-PESA accounts, bank accounts, or at an agent.
Additionally, the app enables business owners to send money to other M-PESA customers, such as paying wages, supplies, and making payments to other businesses.
According to Safaricom's CEO, Peter Ndegwa, the app is part of the company's focus on providing suitable technology solutions to small and medium businesses to help them grow.
"At Safaricom, we are taking a focus on the needs of small and medium businesses to provide them with suitable technology solutions to help them grow. The app is one such solution. It empowers more than 170,000 businesses across the country to send money and make payments and provides them with simple and detailed reports from the convenience of the mobile phone," said Peter Ndegwa.
The app offers additional management features, such as an overview of different tills for business owners with multiple outlets and till usage management.
The app is available on the Android Google Play store and will be available on the iOS App Store in the coming days.
