On June 17, Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho finally broke his silence on the embattled Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru's impeachment, which has been a subject of public interest and media reports.

Speaking during an interview, Kibicho cleared the air on his alleged involvement in Waiguru's ouster, stating that he had no reason whatsoever to have Waiguru impeached.

"I have heard these allegations. People should stop deep-sea fishing. It is now a public thing and has generated public interest, even reported in the media. I want to face my accusers and settle this matter," Kibicho said.

As a serving member of the Jubilee Party, Kibicho emphasized that he had no intention to fight the system, and that Waiguru's impeachment was not a matter of personal interest.

"Waiguru is a Jubilee governor. I work for the Jubilee government. I can't start fighting the system. I have no intention to do so whatsoever," he stated.

He further asserted that the County Assembly Members of Kirinyaga and the Senate had a mandate to work without external pressure, and that he had not expressed any interest in vying for any political position as was earlier alleged.
