On June 17, DJ Evolve was finally discharged from Nairobi Hospital, where he had been admitted since January. The DJ was shot by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino at Kilimani's B-Club while celebrating.
A video shared on Twitter shows DJ Evolve strapped onto an adjustable bed inside an ambulance, able to talk but in low tones. Despite the severity of the incident, Babu Owino has been accused of shooting the DJ, as evidenced by a CCTV footage from the club showing a man believed to be the lawmaker firing a shot.
Interestingly, Babu Owino not only paid for the DJ's hospital bills, which amounted to Sh15 million, but also deposited Sh10 million in cash bail to secure his release. However, Justice Kimaru had previously ruled that Babu Owino could not be forced to pay the bills unless he chose to.
