On June 17, 2020, Nairobi Metropolitan Services Director Maj. General Mohammed Abdalla Badi emphasized the government's commitment to providing sufficient water to meet the high demand in Nairobi, which stands at over 800,000 cubic meters per day.
Speaking at an inspection of the Mathare North Water Supply Project, Badi noted that the government must ensure the proper infrastructure is in place to meet this demand.

The water tanks will be distributed to various informal settlements across Nairobi to aid in the provision of clean and potable water during the COVID-19 pandemic.
CS Kariuki also lauded the efforts of the government and other organizations in setting up various wash points to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting that 5,537 such wash points have been invested in across the country since the emergence of COVID in March.
World Vision Kenya reiterated its commitment to ensuring awareness creation on proper hygiene practices that will minimize the spread of COVID-19, including scaling up water access initiatives such as drilling and equipping boreholes in the 37 counties where they work.
