Kenyan Premier League (KPL) giants Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards have secured a significant sponsorship deal with Betsafe, a new betting firm set to launch its services in the Kenyan market.
According to the deal, which will last for the next three years, Gor Mahia will receive KSh55 million per year, while AFC Leopards will receive KSh40 million per year.
The partnership is a major boost for the two clubs, which have been struggling financially since their previous sponsor, SportPesa, left the scene.
Speaking on the deal, Gor Mahia's chairman said, 'We are pleased to announce our new partnership with a leading Sports betting firm Betsafe. This partnership, when football resumes, offers our club substantial financial support from a strong and safe partner for the coming three seasons.'
On his part, AFC Leopards' chairman, Dan Shikanda, said, 'We are very proud to announce this new major deal to our fans. For us, this sponsorship means everything, as it gives us a sense of security and work peace to be able to focus even more on becoming the best team in the country.'
The deal is the second time the two Mashemeji Derby rivals have signed a joint sponsorship deal with a betting firm, following a similar relationship with SportPesa.
