June 18, 2020 - FedEx Express, a global transportation company, has announced its expansion to East Africa by launching operations in Kenya.
The company will now offer customer service, sales, and account management services directly to Kenyans through its new offices in Nairobi, providing local businesses with access to over 220 markets globally.
With the expansion, Kenyans will no longer require third parties for the importation of goods, and local businesses will be able to connect with FedEx's extensive international coverage.
The courier will offer shipping services, real-time tracking of goods, and local support.
According to Jack Muhs, Regional President of the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa (MEISA) region at FedEx Express, 'We see great potential for East Africa. With a rising middle-class and the growing integration of Africa's markets, Kenya remains poised for future growth.'
However, the company is currently waiting for the country to reopen its economy after the global coronavirus pandemic brought everything to a standstill.
Meanwhile, FedEx is looking at ways to deliver critical medical supplies in the region, with a commitment to delivering critical supplies to healthcare providers and communities in need.
As an essential-service provider, FedEx is committed to prioritizing the safety of its team members and customers.
