On a stormy day in June 2020, Maxwell Oketch, a resident of Nairobi, defied the odds to propose to his long-time girlfriend in a romantic gesture that left both the police and villagers in awe.

With the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions in place, Oketch decided to take a unique approach to reach his girlfriend, who was locked out of the Nairobi Metropolitan Area. He hired a helicopter from Wilson Airport and flew over more than half a dozen police roadblocks to reach Kabati, Murang'a county.

The villagers in Kabati were equally surprised by the unusual presence of a helicopter in their village. Oketch's girlfriend, who was not identified, was reportedly taken aback by the romantic gesture, but the details of her reaction were not provided.

The incident highlights the determination of some individuals to go to great lengths to express their love and commitment to their partners, even in the face of adversity.
