Laikipia Woman Rep Cate Waruguru has found herself at the center of a controversy after allegations emerged that she cheated on her husband and gave birth to a child outside their marriage.
The claims were made by Moses Kuria, the MP for Gatundu South, who stated that Waruguru's recent actions are a result of family frustrations.
According to Kuria, Waruguru's troubles began when her husband requested a DNA test for their newborn baby, only to discover that the baby was not his.
Waruguru is married to lawyer William Kigen in a polygamous union.
On Facebook, Kuria wrote, 'This is why Waruguru is ranting. She got a baby early this year. Her Rift Valley lawyer 'husband' was convinced the baby was his. At some point he asked for a DNA test. The results proved that the baby was fathered by a business associate of the current Kirinyaga Governor. Lawyer took off.'
Waruguru gained attention in 2018 after being denied entry into a Kericho hotel due to lack of a marriage certificate.
She has since shifted her allegiance from Deputy President William Ruto's camp to Raila Odinga's, and has been vocal in her criticism of Ruto.
Notably, Ruto attended Waruguru's baby shower in November last year.
