As the world grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, Africa has been particularly affected, with many countries struggling to implement measures to contain the spread of the virus.

However, a new initiative has been launched to provide a more nuanced understanding of the pandemic in Africa. The COVID-19 data portal, unveiled by Pathways International, provides a comprehensive view of the pandemic using data from reputable sources such as Johns Hopkins University and the World Health Organization.

The portal, available at www.covid19datacenter.com, aggregates and disaggregates COVID-19 data to provide a broader African context, while also allowing for local focus. The portal's interactive visual elements are designed to communicate insights and patterns in the spread of the pandemic in Africa.

According to Pathways International, the portal aims to provide a decision support basis for users and authorities, helping them to determine the most effective interventions and areas of focus in the containment efforts. The portal also seeks to create awareness, which is the best defense against COVID-19.

“We believe data and Artificial Intelligence can complement COVID-19 awareness efforts and help authorities and stakeholders to direct resources towards initiatives with the promise of the greatest desirable impact in Africa,” said Pathways International.
