Published on June 17, 2020, US President Donald Trump is set to meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda at the White House on June 24, just four days before Poland's presidential election.

The election, which was initially scheduled for May 10 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, is expected to be closely contested, with opinion polls suggesting that a liberal opposition candidate could oust the government-backed Duda.

According to White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, the meeting between Trump and Duda will focus on further advancing cooperation between the two countries on defense, trade, energy, and telecommunications security.

Poland's economic hardship triggered by the coronavirus lockdown has led to a decline in support for Duda, who was previously considered the hands-down election favorite.
