UEFA has announced the return of the Champions League, with the competition set to resume on Tuesday, August 7, 2020, following a confirmation from the European governing body.
As part of the new format, the quarterfinals and semifinals of the Champions League will be played in a single leg, with the final scheduled for Thursday, August 23, in Cologne, Germany.
The decision comes after top-flight leagues in England, Spain, and Germany resumed their seasons, leading UEFA to conclude that the tournament can safely resume.
According to UEFA, the remaining last-16 games will be played at their original venues before changes are made from the last eight of the competition.
Additionally, the Europa League will also see changes, with the quarterfinals to be played in a single leg in four German cities: Cologne, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, and Gelsenkirchen, starting mid-August, with the final in Cologne on Tuesday, August 21.
