On January 30th, 2018, Miguna Miguna administered the oath of office to Raila Odinga at Uhuru Park, declaring him the People's President.
However, in a shocking turn of events, Miguna has now revoked the oath, claiming that Raila is no longer the People's President.
On June 16th, 2020, Miguna wrote on his social media pages, 'By powers vested on me as the Commissioner of Oaths who administered the Oath of Office of The People's President on Raila Amolo Odinga, I, Miguna Miguna, hereby REVOKE that Oath and declare Raila Odinga to be an ordinary citizen. Dated at the City of Toronto, this June 16, 2020.'
But Miguna's move may be too little, too late, as Raila had already denied the oath in an interview on January 26th, 2020, telling NTV's Joseph Warungu, 'I denounced the oath I took at Uhuru park when I shook hands with President Uhuru.'
Responding to a question on Twitter, Miguna stated that embattled Chief Justice David K. Maraga can also revoke the oath he administered on President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto, which would lead to the dissolution of Parliament and proper elections being held.
