Kenya has recorded the highest number of positive COVID-19 cases in a single day, with 184 new cases reported on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, from a sample size of 2,518 tested in the last 24 hours.

According to Health CAS Rashid Aman, the surge in cases is a serious situation that requires immediate attention. 'This is serious, a situation that we must all be concerned about. Such figures have the potential to quickly overwhelm our healthcare facilities. We must not allow this to happen. I am therefore appealing to our people to seriously observe the containment measures.'

The new cases bring the cumulative number of cases to 4,044 out of 124,474 samples tested in the country. The cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi recording the highest number of cases at 111, followed by Mombasa with 19 cases.

The cases are further broken down by sub-county, with Westlands in Nairobi recording the highest number of cases at 33, followed by Kibra with 19 cases.
