Deputy President William Ruto's reputation has taken a hit after leaked Wikileaks files exposed his alleged role in the 2007-2008 post-election violence. The files, which have been trending on social media, detail how Ruto incited Kalenjins to attack Kikuyus and other non-Kalenjins in Rift Valley.
According to the leaked documents, Ruto referred to outsiders as 'Sangari' (weed) and told Kalenjins to 'uproot and burn' them during an opening ceremony for the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Mailing.
Furious netizens have taken to Twitter to condemn Ruto, calling him a murderer who is unfit to lead the country. They have also linked him to several other murders, including the killing of journalist Jacob Juma, ICC witnesses, and a 7-year-old boy in Busia.
One Twitter user, @Tasha67_, wrote: 'Journalist John Kituyi might have been killed after linking an article of the former radio journalist Joshua arap Sang and Mr Ruto before the International Criminal Court. Justice in Kenya is a story to forget! #RutoTheMurderer.'
Another user, @KisiiCool, listed several alleged murders linked to Ruto, including the killing of women and children at Kiambaa church.
