On June 17, 2020, Kenya hit a record high for new coronavirus cases, with 184 confirmed cases in 24 hours, pushing the tally to 4,044.

According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman, the new cases were recorded from 2,518 samples.

"We are likely to see more larger numbers of positive cases," Dr. Aman warned, urging Kenyans to observe hygiene and safety measures advised by the Ministry of Health.

Of the 184 new cases, 129 were men and 55 were women.

Dr. Aman added that 27 more people had been discharged, bringing total recoveries to 1,353, and two more patients had died, raising the death toll to 107.

The Health ministry reported that 548 coronavirus patients were admitted in various hospitals across the country, with five in critical condition.
