On June 16, 2020, Barcelona secured a 2-0 win over Leganes at the Nou Camp, with Lionel Messi scoring his 699th career goal in the process.

However, the highlight of the match came when Leganes captain Unai Bustinza rugby tackled Messi in a bold attempt to stop the Argentine's scintillating runs and dribbles.

As Messi was menacingly running on the win with the ball in the 36th minute, Bustinza decided to take one for the team and wrapped his arms around Messi's midsection in an attempt to bring him down.

The bizarre and sensational moment elicited hilarious reactions online, with some fans suggesting Bustinza was too eager to 'hug' arguably the best player of all time.

Despite the setback, Messi continued to dominate the game, eventually scoring the resulting penalty for his 699th career goal.
