Gloria Kawira, a 21-year-old fourth-year medicine student at Egerton University, is a talented actress and human rights activist who is making a name for herself in the film industry.

Her film, Pear, has been nominated for the Best Scene Shot By Phone award in the Film Scene Festival in the United States.

The film tells the story of Anita, a naive girl who is guided by her moral values but struggles to stay true to them in the face of peer pressure and curiosity.

After being raped, Anita descends into depression and becomes a violent person, turning to drugs for comfort.

According to Kawira, the film's title, Pear, represents the scrabble of life and how events can change who we become.

Kawira is also pursuing an acting course at Nairobi Performing Arts, where her coach is Nice Githinji.

She has made numerous appearances in movies and plays, and is currently in the pre-production stage of her first feature film.

As a medicine student, Kawira is committed to saving lives, while her acting career allows her to give meaning to people's lives by telling stories that bring change.
