On June 18, 2020, Safaricom announced that it would undertake scheduled maintenance on its mobile wallet Mpesa, impacting services from 0000hrs to 0500hrs.
During this period, customers will be unable to access Mpesa services, including airtime purchase, sending money, and paying bills.
Mpesa, launched over 13 years ago, has enabled Kenyans to send funds, access credit, and pay for utilities through the platform.
Notably, in March 2020, Safaricom waived the transaction fee for person-to-person money transfers below KSh1000.
Additionally, under the Bonga For Good initiative, customers donated 1 billion Bonga Points worth approximately KSh 330 million in the past two months.
