On June 17, 2020, a significant shake-up occurred in the National Assembly, with four Jubilee MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto being de-whipped from various departmental committees.

Among those affected were Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and Laikipia County Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru, who were removed from the Transport, Public Works and Housing Committee and the Committee on Members Services and Facilities, respectively.

Additionally, Aldai MP Cornelly Serem and Bomet County Woman Representative Joyce Chepkoech Korir were ejected from the Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Committee and the Labour and Social Welfare Committee.

The move comes as Deputy President Ruto's allies have been increasingly meeting with opposition leader Raila Odinga at his Capitol Hill offices in Nairobi, sparking speculation about potential alliances.
