Published on June 17, 2020, the National Assembly has seen a significant shake-up in its committees, with at least four Jubilee MPs being discharged.
Laikipia Woman Rep Catherine Waruguru, who met ODM leader Raila Odinga last week in a bid to save her post, was among those affected.
Others who have lost their positions include Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Aldai MP Cornelly Serem, and Bomet Woman Rep Joyce Korir.
Majority Chief Whip Emmanuel Wangwe informed Speaker Justin Muturi of their expulsion in letters dated June 17.
Waruguru's letter stated, 'This is to inform you that the Majority Party hereby discharges Catherine Waruguru from the membership of the departmental committee on members services and facilities.'
Kuria has lost his post as the vice-chairman of the Transport, Public Works and Housing Committee, while Korir was serving as the vice-chairperson of the Labour and Social Welfare Committee.
Serem, on the other hand, was the vice-chairperson to the Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Committee.
The move indicates that the new Majority Whip Chief Whip Emmanuel Wangwe is cleaning the coalition's leadership in Parliamentary Committees.
The sixteen members who have been affected are close allies to the Deputy President William Ruto, who serve as chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of various committees.
