On June 17, 2020, the Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) announced that Gor Mahia head coach Steven Polack had been named the SJAK Coach of the Month for February 2020.
Polack, who had previously won the award in October and November 2019, edged out AFC Leopards' Anthony Kimani and former Bandari tactician Twahir Muhiddin for the honor.
The award was initially set to be presented in March but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which had halted sporting activities worldwide.
Despite a 3-1 loss to Sofapaka early in the month, Polack guided Gor Mahia to a strong finish, collecting ten points through three wins and a draw.
The team began the month with a convincing 3-0 win over Nzoia Sugar, followed by a loss to Sofapaka and a 1-1 draw against Western Stima.
However, Gor Mahia wrapped up the month with identical 3-2 wins over Zoo FC and Stima, giving Polack the edge he needed to take the award.
Polack, who previously coached at Asante Kotoko, has called on football stakeholders in Kenya to come to an agreement regarding the current season and the 2020/2021 season.
