CMB Prezzo's Turbulent Journey ¶
Kenyan musician CMB Prezzo has had a life marked by both success and struggles. In a recent interview, he opened up about his experiences, including a stint in jail, depression, and a brief membership in the Mungiki group.
Prezzo's rise to fame was swift, but it was not without its challenges. He has spoken publicly about the trouble he got into during his early days in the entertainment industry.
During an interview on CTA, Prezzo shared a story about how he was dating Sheila Mwanyigha, also known as Nikki, when he was in jail. He credited her mother with helping him get out of jail and warned him not to break her daughter's heart.
“I got out of jail and Nikki's mum said she wants to talk to me. So we went to her home, I also wanted to meet her to say 'thank you mama' for taking care of the situation. She told me 'it's okay' what I've done but 'do not break my girl's heart'.”
Despite the warning, Prezzo's relationship with Nikki did not work out. He then impregnated his then-girlfriend Daisy, whom he eventually married. However, their marriage was short-lived, and Prezzo's love for music ultimately led to their separation.
Prezzo has spoken publicly about how he struggled with depression after his marriage ended. He has also talked about how he joined the Mungiki group, led by Maina Njenga, and became the youth leader. However, this experience did not bring him the breakthrough he was hoping for.
“Because everyday I go down on my knees and ask God to give me opportunities and show me which way to go. So if I had just abandoned that meeting, then maybe that was my big break. We kick it with Mheshimiwa Maina Njenga, he gives me his vision and how things are supposed to go and I tell him cool. He put me in a situation and said he is giving me responsibilities and I became a bit shaken.”
Prezzo's journey has been marked by both success and struggles. He has spoken publicly about how he has learned to rely on God and trust in his plan. He has also talked about how he joined Big Brother, which marked a turning point in his life.
“So that you know God listens, as I'm driving, I pull up my car, we had a show with Cannibal then my phone rings and this lady says 'Hi Prezzo, my name is Precious and I'm calling you from Endemol.' So I'm trying to figure out what Endemol was and she goes like 'have you ever watched Big Brother before? We have this all stars big brother series and we felt like you are the right representative for Kenya.”
Today, Prezzo is a successful musician, but his journey has not been without its challenges. He has spoken publicly about how he has learned to trust in God and rely on his plan.
