On June 7, 2020, Jackson Ondiek, a 27-year-old chicken seller, was shot and injured by a policeman at Makutano in Baringo County.
Ondiek, who is currently nursing gunshot wounds at the Eldama Ravine Hospital, claims he was an innocent man who was going home at the time of the incident.
"I sell kienyeji chicken and eggs. I have a chicken farm in Mumberes village in Eldama Ravine. On that day I had just finished my business and was on my way home when I met the police. It was past the curfew hour, but I obeyed and stopped when asked to do so," he said.
However, Baringo Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa dismissed the allegations, saying Ondiek was a suspect in a theft case and had tried to attack police officers with a panga when he was being arrested.
