Video: Drama as Sonko Goes After Police Boss Who manhandled him in Voi

On June 16, 2020, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko released a heartfelt message alongside a video showing the officer who handcuffed him in Voi fighting with a woman over child support.

The video, which has sparked a mix of reactions on social media, shows the police commander, Mr. Mureithi, being confronted and manhandled by a woman who claimed the two had a child together.

According to Sonko, he has been made to understand that Mr. Mureithi has a child with the woman, and he is willing to pay the Sh300K child support awarded by the children's court.

However, some social media users have criticized Sonko for organizing for the police officer to be humiliated by a lover demanding Ksh 300,000, only to offer to pay the woman.

It is worth noting that Sonko was arrested in Voi at a roadblock in December 2019 after a 2-day manhunt as he allegedly tried to evade arrest over allegations of misappropriating over Ksh357 million.

During his arrest, a video went viral showing the governor resisting to board a police chopper at the Ikanga Airstrip, forcing the base commander to handcuff him.
