On Tuesday, the Senate made a crucial decision regarding Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru's fate, voting to have her face an 11-member special committee.

The debate surrounding Governor Waiguru's fate turned heated, with a bitter exchange of words between senators allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga and those allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

Senators supporting Deputy President Ruto wanted Governor Waiguru to face the full house, but the majority prevailed, voting for a special committee instead.

Minority Leader James Orengo accused unnamed individuals of seeking Governor Waiguru's downfall, sparking an avalanche of jeers and boos from a section of the House.

Kenyan Digest obtained images of senators who voted for the special committee, with all 'tanga tanga' leaders, led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, voting against the motion. Mandera Senator Mahamud Mohamed abstained from the vote.
