On June 17, 2020, a viral video showed a woman physically confronting a man, accusing him of failing to pay child support. The woman, who was later identified as a mother, claimed that the man had been instructed by the children's court to pay Sh300,000 in upkeep for their child.

The man, later revealed to be retired Voi Base Commander Michael Mureithi, was dressed in a brown jacket and was repeatedly pushed and shoved by the woman, who was dressed in an all-green attire.

According to Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, Mureithi was the police officer who painfully handcuffed him twice during his dramatic arrest in Voi last year. Sonko shared a lengthy statement on social media, in which he referred to Mureithi as a 'friend' and expressed his support for the officer's well-being.

However, in a surprising turn of events, Sonko has since pledged to pay the Sh300,000 child support claim, urging Mureithi to accept responsibility for the child and promising to pray for the officer's peace in his relationship with the woman.
