Rosemary Odinga's Resilience in the Face of Adversity

On June 17, 2020, Rosemary Odinga, daughter of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, shared her inspiring story of resilience and recovery after being diagnosed with a brain tumour and aneurysm in 2017.

According to Rosemary, her family played a crucial role in her recovery process. Her siblings, Raila Junior and Winnie Odinga, took in her two daughters and cared for them while she was still recuperating.

Rosemary noted that her family's influence in her life taught her to love the people around her. She expressed her gratitude towards her family, saying, 'I have to commend my family because we had lost my brother not too long before. Everybody was very supportive. My younger brother and sister took in the kids. My friends, cousins, uncles and aunts were also very supportive. Everyone came together. I am very grateful for that,'

After collapsing in 2017 moments before addressing a women's leadership training, Rosemary was rushed to the hospital and later diagnosed with a brain tumour and aneurysm. She underwent intense treatment in South Africa and eventually regained her sight.

Rosemary's story is a testament to the power of family support and resilience in the face of adversity.
