On June 17, 2020, FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, announced its expansion in East Africa by offering customers in Kenya direct access to a number of FedEx services for the first time.
This move enables businesses and individuals in Kenya to access the company's international coverage to and from more than 220 countries and territories, connecting them to new markets and customers across the globe.
With the expansion, FedEx customers in Kenya will now enjoy the benefits of FedEx customer service, enhanced sales support, and dedicated account management staffed from the new FedEx offices in Kenya.
According to Jack Muhs, Regional President of the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa (MEISA) region at FedEx Express, 'We see great potential for East Africa. With a rising middle class, and the growing integration of Africa's markets, Kenya remains poised for future growth.'
The World Bank projects Kenya's medium-term growth to rebound to about 5.6% over the medium term, assuming investor confidence is restored soon after the COVID-19 pandemic is contained.
Despite the setbacks from COVID-19, Muhs emphasized that FedEx Express remains committed to supporting economic sustainability across Kenya and the continent as a whole, connecting Kenya's businesses with 99% of the world's GDP.
