On June 17, 2020, a dramatic scene unfolded in the Senate as Senator Kipchumba Murkomen from Elgeyo Marakwet County made explosive claims that Governor Waiguru's impeachment verdict had already been decided at the State House.

The Senator's remarks sparked a fierce debate among his colleagues, with some senators allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga's ODM party strongly disagreeing with Murkomen's assertion.

Senator James Orengo was quick to respond, reminding Murkomen of their past calls for better governance and accusing him of hypocrisy.

As the debate escalated, Murkomen and Orengo engaged in a shouting match, with the Senate Speaker, Kenneth Lusaka, eventually intervening to restore order.

Despite the chaos, the motion to have a select committee decide Waiguru's fate carried the day, with 45 senators voting in favor and 14 against.

ODM senators later dismissed Murkomen's allegations, telling him to look at the rear mirror before speaking.
