June 17, 2020 - Kenya's COVID-19 cases have reached 3,860, with men accounting for the majority of new infections.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced 133 new cases on Tuesday, with 88 of them being male and 45 female.

According to Kagwe, the disparity in COVID-19 cases between men and women is largely due to varying behavior among the two genders.

"We need to understand why so many men are getting this virus," Kagwe said. "If we were able to drop the number of men to the level of number of women, you can see we'd drop the numbers substantially."

He urged men to adopt a more cautious approach to the pandemic, citing women's consistent behavior as a key factor in their lower infection rates.

Out of the 133 new cases, Nairobi recorded 86, followed by Mombasa with 27, Kiambu with 7, and Busia with 5.

CS Kagwe also announced that 40 more patients had been discharged after recovering from the disease, bringing the number of recoveries to 1,326.

One more patient has succumbed to COVID-19, raising the number of fatalities to 105.

So far, the country has tested 121,956 samples.
