Writer Warns Women Against Being Misled by Socialites ¶
On June 16, 2020, Nairobi writer Aoko Atieno cautioned women against being misled by Kenyan women posing as socialites.
Aoko singled out Bridget Achieng and Vera Sidika, who are some of the socialites living large in the country.
According to Aoko, the only difference between the so-called socialites and other prostitutes is the kind of clients each handles.
She called out on Bridget to stop misleading women saying that her womanhood is expensive.
Aoko further stated that what the Kenyan socialites were doing is demeaning themselves, whereas they have the ability to engage in other constructive things that will bring them clean money.
She used the example of American socialite Kim Kardashian, who is married and happy to have children, and is running her business and went back to school to study Law.
"The only difference between these women and Koinange is that 'socialites' parade their goodies to the highest bidder on the streets of Instagram, Facebook and Twitter," Aoko wrote.
"The same Bridget cried on BBC that they were made to suck toes of sponsors. In Dubai, the dirty Arabs even st on them before they are paid. Why must a woman subject herself to such degrading balderdash just to appear rich? Stop misleading young women with this I am expensive phrase," Aoko added.
