Kenya's COVID-19 cases continue to rise, with the national tally reaching 3,860 after 133 new cases were reported on June 16, 2020.
The Ministry of Health has raised alarm over the high rate of infections among men, urging them to emulate women's behavior in observing health measures.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe attributed the high number of male cases to varying behavior linked to gender differences, saying that women are more careful and consistent in observing health measures.
"We need to understand why so many men are getting this virus. If we were able to drop the number of men to the level of number of women you can see we'd drop the numbers substantially," said Kagwe.
According to the CS, among the new patients are 88 males and 45 females. The new cases were distributed in various counties, with Nairobi reporting the highest number of cases at 86.
At the same time, 40 more patients had recovered from the respiratory disease and have been discharged from various health facilities, raising the total number of recoveries to 1,326.
One more patient also died of the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 105.
As of now, the country has tested a total of 121,956 samples.
