On June 16, 2020, the Senate voted in favour of forming a special committee to investigate allegations against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, which led to her impeachment.
A total of 45 senators voted in favour of the committee, while 14 voted against it and one senator abstained.
The 11-member committee has 10 days to investigate the allegations and submit a report to the Senate.
The committee members are Abshiro Halake, Michael Mbito, Paul Githiomi, Beth Mugo, Anwar Loitiptip, Philip Mpayei, Cleophas Malala, Beatrice Kwamboka, Stewart Madzayo, Judith Pareno, and Moses Kajwang.
