Kitui County is on the brink of a constitutional crisis as its Assembly Members threaten to impeach Governor Charity Ngilu over her defense of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who was ousted and is awaiting a senate verdict.

On June 10, Kitui MCAs opposed all six nominees to the County Public Service Board (CPSB) proposed by Governor Ngilu, sparking a new battlefront in the ongoing power struggle between the county government and the MCAs, who are largely affiliated with the Wiper Democratic Movement led by Kalonzo Musyoka.

The NARK Party chairman, Miltonic Kitute, has declared that the party will petition President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve the Kitui County Government, citing delays in the passing of the Supplementary Budget and the impact on development projects in the county.

Kitute accused Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of keeping quiet as his allied MCAs 'assault' Governor Ngilu, calling on him to control his 'troops' and focus on implementing Governor Ngilu's five-pillar developmental agenda.

'It is clear that the Wiper Party is playing dirty politics using the assembly to punish the people of this county. I challenge the Wiper leader to tame his footsoldiers in the house with a view to putting aside their political affiliations and focus to implement Governor Ngilu's five-pillar developmental agenda. If not, we are ready to go to the polls,' Kitute argued.
