Kitui County Assembly Members have been at odds with Governor Charity Ngilu over her support for Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, who was ousted and is awaiting a senate verdict.
On June 10, the Kitui County Assembly Members opposed all six nominees to the County Public Service Board (CPSB) put forward by Governor Ngilu, sparking a new battlefront.
The NARK Party chairman, Miltonic Kitute, declared on June 16 that the party would petition President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve the Kitui County Government, citing delays in the passing of the Supplementary Budget and the impact on development projects.
Kitute accused Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka of keeping quiet while his allied MCAs assaulted Governor Ngilu, calling on him to control his troops.
"It is clear that the Wiper Party is playing dirty politics using the assembly to punish the people of this county," Kitute argued. "I challenge the Wiper leader to tame his footsoldiers in the house with a view to putting aside their political affiliations and focus on implementing Governor Ngilu's five-pillar developmental agenda. If not, we are ready to go to the polls," he added.
