As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, Nairobi residents are facing a new reality: long-distance marriages. The government's lockdown measures, which have been in place since April 2020, have left many couples separated and struggling to maintain their relationships.

With President Uhuru Kenyatta extending the lockdown until July 2020, couples are finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the distance. A recent post on the Kilimani Mums Facebook group highlighted the challenges of long-distance marriage, with one woman asking for advice on how to deal with the situation.

Some of the comments from the group included:

  • "Be rest assured ako na fimbo ya karibu….101%"
  • "The 4 of you should trust one another"
  • "Hehe…still I haven’t gotten the solution"
  • "Simply being faithful and communicate daily if possible"
  • "Aki walae Uhuru asiongeze lockdown woyeee"
  • "Masidechicks watatakeover long distance baes"
  • "Trust is the key people will mislead you here. If you know your partner well that’s all that matters. I refuse to subscribe to some school of thoughts since some here are full of negativity. Always think positively"
  • "Challenging"
