On June 12, Christopher Koyogi and others opposed the dawn ceremony where Deputy President William Ruto was crowned the Kalenjin kingpin, claiming they were not consulted.

However, the Talai Council of Elders has now resolved to expel Koyogi for fostering disunity and openly defying their decision.

According to the council's Chairman, Retired Reverend Canon James Baasi, 22 out of 25 members signed to expel Koyogi, citing that he had tainted the image of the clan.

Baasi also noted that external forces were interfering with the role of the Talai clan following the controversial dawn ceremony.

The council Secretary General, David Sulo, stated that various sub-families of the clan were involved in deliberation of the crowning process, which was consistent with the Talai rites.

The installation ceremony of DP Ruto as the Kalenjin community's new kingpin was conducted within the cultural protocols recognized by the clan, the council said in a press address issued at Kapsisiywa in Nandi on Tuesday.
